Need install help

I have installed PHP 4.06 on my Sambar server. I NEED PHP Authentication, so I have configured it manually on my NT machine, but the Auth still does not work - it never sets the PHP_AUTH_USER and PW variables. Does anybody know what I have to do to get that working?

PHP_AUTH_USER doesn't work on IIS, if that's what you are using...
