gd lib

I want to make my php supports imap function and gd lib, i have installed gd lib and c-client, after compliation, when i start apache, the following error message is shown:

Cannot load
/usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server: undefined symbol: png_get_error_ptr

what's the problem?

Did you or anyone else found a solution for this problem? I got the same thing here, but can't find a fix anywhere...
