php, cocoon2 & tomcat 4

I have being using PHP for about 2 years now, and Cocoon2 for about 6 months..

Now I'm trying to compile PHP as a servlet so I can user php to generate content to cocoon2.

I'm lost..

Although I'm pretty good at programing in PHP, my Java knowledge is somewhat basic, so, I need some help in doing it.

my system is:

- Red Hat 7.2
- the latest j2sdk1.4.0
- tomcat 4.0 from 12/11/2001
- cocoon2 from cvs
- PHP 4.1.1

I have no Idea of what I should do with Enviroment variables and stuff...

Any help will be greatly apreciated
