I did a apt-get install apache (after i did the update) and I get the below error

Setting up apache (1.3.22-6) ...
awk: cannot open /etc/apache/*.conf (No such file or directory)
awk: cannot open /etc/apache/*.conf (No such file or directory)
dpkg: error processing apache (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
apache
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
f

i also they tried to run apache and this is the error i got which lead me to believe that it is not creating the httpd.conf file among others

apache
fopen: No such file or directory
apache: could not open document config file /etc/apache/httpd.conf

how can i get apache working??
If anyone could help me this would be great,
