Apache and PHP parsing.

I have the SUSE dist. of linux with apache and php4 4.0.6 installed. I can use php at a command line but when I try to hit the apache server with a test.php, it wants to download the file like it does not recognize the file type. Can someone tell me where I have gone wrong?

I am having the same problem. What are we missing?
I am running Red Hat7.2, php4.2.0, and apache 1.3.24.
