Has anyone got Apache 2.0.35 and PHP 4.2.0 RC4 running on win2000?

php wont parse pages.

Yes. But in my experience, I a only succeded in running it in CGI binary on Apache. When I try running PHP as a module, when I start it as a service, there is a dialog that says it has server-specific error code 1 and tell me to contact the service vendor. Read the intallation manual that included by the package and follow the guidelines in running it as a CGI binary.
