I'm running XP pro and cannot change the readonly attribute of my folders, even when logged in as 'administrator'. This means I cannot run any scripts which update a database on my computer. When I uncheck the readonly attribute it just comes right back.

Anyone have a solution for this?

thanks!

I get the same problem with XP and it is stopping rmdir() from working. Really annoying bug....

Any solution to this problem would be much appreciated by me too! Thanks!

Quick update - I have got rmdir working; my code was a bit buggy - some unclosed file handles (windows seems to be more sensitive than solaris in this respect....)

Anyway, I still can't get XP to unset the readonly attrib on dirs but it doesn't stop rmdir() from working.

Cheers.

AAARRRGH!!! This enrages me... I want this problem fixed now... I see this as the beginning of Microsoft's DRM crap... sure everything works fine and dandy with MS programs, but once you try and run something else you're screwed... not because that something else has bad programming but because MS is a jerk.
Why the hell is there even a read-only button there if you can't change the setting.

Jeeze, I'm so pissed with this I could just assassinate Bill.
