Hi!

I've got a really annoying problem with my IIS installation. This is again and again happening around 1 week after I reinstall windows xp from scratch.

- IIS not serving any accesses anymore (connection times out).

- Rebooting does not help (inetinfo.exe hangs as soon as it's loaded again)

- I cannot kill the process with the task manager (nothing happens, not even a message box)
- Using Kill.exe from the NT Resource Kit reports that the process was killed, but it isn't.
- Using the process viewer from MS Visual Studio 6.0 results in the message that "the process could not be terminated"

- If I try to debug the process (MS Visual Studio.net; can debug system services), the debugger simply doesn't launch.

- The IIS control panel doesn't open anymore either.
- When I try to uninstall the entire IIS package, the uninstaller begins and then just stops.

Since I've got that VIA mainboard my computer randomly reboots sometimes, maybe something broke ?

I could also zonealarm having to do something with it. I think it could have happened whenever I reinstalled zonealarm.

Any ideas ?

Thx,
-Markus-

It is supposed that the problem is with the content index server. Try stopping the service if you donīt need it.
