Hello all,

My question may sound silly but i have a problem with IIS on win xp home edition:
I cannot browse to a site on IIS by the server IP. For ex:let's say i have 2 machines A named server and B named client,A has IIS installed and configured and has a default website. When i browse from A's IE to the website i have to enter http://localhost but if i put instead the server ip http://192.168.2.1 i get a username and password box that whatever i eneterd gives me an error. Is there anyway i can get rid of that?
By the way i had to do some stuff to get IIS to work over XP home edition.

Regards

Guys I got it:

1- My operating system is Xp home edition on "A" and i log in to the system without a password so i had to give that username a password.
2- In IIS right click on the computer name web site and go to properties/Directory security, click on edit, then Edit, Pick the XP username and enter its password. Press OK.
3- same goes for the default web site and virtual directory, but in the virtual directory's security tab click Edit and uncheck "Integrated windows authentication" and VOILA.

Step 4: Use Apache and ditch the microcrap "server"
