Looking for VServer offers in US

Dear Penguins,

I live in Germany and I want to run a quite big php/mysql web-community here. In order to save money I thought it'd be clever idea to rent a VServer(LAMP) in the US instead of a dedicated one over here.

Reasons: Euro/Dollar exchange & user peaks in the evening hours would be in the US' afternoon hours - this way I get more CPU power from a VServer than if I would share a server with others over here, right?

? Can you name me a few good addresses in the US where I can rent vservers? (I'm looking for rather big, relyable companies.)

? Is it right, that the bigger PING time to the us doesnt really matter for a regulat web-application like this? (no gaming)

My VPS is hosted by Slicehost, but I have also given Linode a close look (I only found out about it after choosing Slicehost, and I felt that its deals seemed a little better, but not good enough to switch; consider your options).
