This is mostly speculation...

Anon was the anonymous user back from the old boards. That's why its post count is so high, because all the posts made by people who weren't logged in got credited to Anon. 65536 (or rather 0-65535) is the maximum value of a 16-bit integer, which is the column type in the database for the post count column.

With the new boards, I think you always have to be logged in to post, so I don't think there will be any new posts from Anon unless someone guessed the password or something like that.

Exactly. Anon is from the old Anonymous users. There really was no way of finding out who posted, so I had to keep the Anon user.
