What is the cookie timeout here?

What is the cookie timeout here? It seems to keep threads marked as unread for hours!

I'm not sure of the direct answer to your question because I don't use cookies on the vB sites because I use a browser sometimes that doesn't support them.

Assuming you're logged in when you read the posts, if you log out and then log back in again a while later (I don't think it marks them read right after you log out, maybe on purpose), they'll be marked read.

The one thing I have noticed on pretty much all the vB sites except this one is that sessions expire really quickly when you're not using cookies, so fast in fact that if you're typing even a moderately long post, it'll make you log in again when you try to post it (and then it'll give you a no thread specified error and if you press the Back button what you typed will be gone and you have to type it again ). At this site that doesn't seem to be a problem. Maybe session lengths are longer?

Session timeout is what it is called, yes. I think it is much longer than the vB default, just curious as to what it is.

Yeah, sorry for the confusion. I've been playing with it a bit. I had a complaint about the default time out, actually, it was a little more than a complaint so I tried a couple settings. Right now, I believe it's set to 30 mins, rather than the 15 min default.

The person was complaining about timing out while typing a reply.
