Why cant you allow Username editing ??

Hi,

I was a previous member and posted a couple of hundred posts on this forum, I had to change my Username (as my original one was to noticable to other people in my work place). anyway I would like to reclame my old posts and delete my old username. Can this not be enabled to users with more than 100 posts or something ??

Cheers

Sorry, can't do it. With 30,000 users even 10% wanting a name change would take quite a long time.

How about with the user name on vbulletin --- doesn't vbulletin's configuration allow for a user name change by the user? If it doesn't, I'm not sure I understand why it would not, there isn't a security issue, is there?

Fair enough, just though that vbulletin had that option (as phpBB has).

Sorry for the delay. Yes, changing user names is an option in vB 2+, but it's going to just cause a lot of crazy confusion and fill the database with "hello everyone, guess who I am" or "I'm xxx, just changed my name to xxxx" posts.

It would be chaos. It's ok with smaller memberships, but not with 30,000+.
