Is there anyone out there, who found the ".reg" file and installed PHP4 on Win98/PWS succesfully? If yes, please give me the instructions clearly! Thank you for your cooporation!
yes I have precisely that system (win98/pws)
I followed the instructions in php manual under installation there is a section for win 98 you need to go into your registry and tweak some stuff to get php to work. It's tricky but if you follow the steps precisely it should work, it did for me.

You can grab the php 4.01 release, the .reg file you need is now included in the .zip package. Imagine that, the file you need is ACTUALLY there now...what's next? Flying cars?
I don't want flying cars but I want flying carpets!!!
I have got the "*.reg" file finally. And since then, I have been trying to install PHP4 on Win98/PWS, no success! I followed the instructions exactly. I keep getting an error message:
"HTTP Error 403
403.1 Forbidden:Execute Access Forbidden..."
What is going on here? Any insight?
For your "..execute access forbidden..", you need to set the directory properties from PWS (e.g. Front Page), or other admin tool, to "Allow scripts or programs to run".
You may also need to set the directory properties from the Windows Explorer, to allow 'Share as..', and then "Web Sharing" as "Share Folder for HTTP" / "Execute scripts".
