PHP4 Installation

I'm new to PHP and I was wondering if there was any site or document that showed how to install PHP4 step-by-step. I can only seem to find step by step instructions for three. Can anyone help me out by either pointing me to the right page or sending me a list of installation differences (lines for apache, etc.)

but, there is no step by step information for how to install php 4.0 on PWS/win98

please, tell me more sites for documentation
