Never mind, found the problem. I forgot to connect to the database on the
page that was giving the error.
Nothing quite like telling someone who knows nothing about PHP or MySQL to
make you think about a problem, decide to look up the mysql_query function
in the manual and see the phrase "sends a query to the currently active
database" and think...I never connected to the database on this page!
