Hi
Thanks to all, Mike and Jeremy in particular.
Excuse the slightly off topic post.
A more general question........
M$ have a range of ecommerce / application development suites - Commerce
Server, Biztalk and others, I think (I am not an expert on M$ products )
Is there a suite of php or open source tools aimed at delivering business
services? As my example shows the integration of systems is becoming
increasingly important. Mixing functionality and communication with other
services is the kind of thing I am talking about.
I have taken a look at PEAR, which seems to be aiming to do this, but seems
to offer a limited amount of actual modules, which in turn seem to be
basic - db connection, authorisation, content delivery (and XML :))
I tend to have my head down - family and work leave a little time for eating
and sleeping, but not much else :) so there may be plenty out there which I
haven't had the time to discover. If not, I am interested in people's
thoughts. I have a development framework, and am wondering what to do with
it - licence it for money, open source it, sell it or just use it.
Is there a call for an integrated suite of modules for building sites and
services, or do developers want to do their own thing, or are needs so
diverse that it is pointless?
Mail me off list if this is not appropriate material
Peter
