I apologize for reposting this - but I realized later that few
people read messages with "uninteresting" subjects ...
anyway: What about CORBA and ActiveX support? I have been (against my will
and better judgement :-), developing in Cold Fusion and Active Server Pages
lately. And PHP obviously blows these out of the water in every respect
except one: it doesn't have support for compiled components. I realize that
for many people the dynamic modules answers this question; however, I think
that supporting Corba and ActiveX components would open up a whole new
world for PHP developers.
So - my question to the development programmers is would adding support for
CORBA/ActiveX components be beneficial, and how daunting a task would it
be? I assume it would have some impact on the parser - but how much?
I am willing to dive into this effort if others agree that it is a good
thing. This would obviously be a post-3.0 release feature. So it's no rush
- but opinions would be helpful.
