[PHP-DEV] Multi byte Support From: Hironori Sato (satoh <email protected>)

Howdy ya'all.

I'm currently trying to organize a group of people to do Japanese support
of PHP3. We have always had the patch for 'Japanizing PHP' since PHP/FI,
but I felt the need to merge with the main distribution. So, I asked my
boss and got an approval for working on this project. I have already
talked to Mr. Shigeru Kanemoto who has CVS write permission and we are
coordinating via small mailing list called PHPJ-DEV.

So, is anyone else working on multi byte support? If so, please let me
know. I don't want to waste my time if someone else is working on it. If
all goes well, Japanese support will be able to merge with the main
distribution fairly soon since there is already working patch. I just need
to be careful about the implementation to cover general multi byte. Once
that's taken care of, I will work more on general multi byte support such
as Chinese and Korean.

We are still at the stage of getting the development going, so not much
detail can be explained yet. But, I would welcome any comments and
feedbacks for multi byte support.
