It never was :) Again, it may have worked for you, but it was pure
coincidence, the sort of coincidence that stops happening when you change
something else that apparently has nothing to do with it...

Anyway, the startup code is extremely tricky and for most things there are
very good reasons for why they appear before something else. I'll look
into initializing the symbol tables earlier in the startup code tomorrow.
