What about a 'php-pear' list? Has that been considered?

Subject: [PHP4BETA] [IMPORTANT] PHP Mailing Lists Changes

Hi,

In light of the upcoming release of PHP 4.0, and due to the considerable
mess the PHP mailing lists are in, we've decided to change the structure of
the PHP mailing lists.

- Both of the PHP 3 list (php3 <email protected>) and the PHP 4 list
(php4beta <email protected>) will be discontinued within a two weeks. There'll
no longer be separate mailing lists for PHP 3 and 4.

- In their place, X new, topic-based mailing lists will be opened:

php-install
PHP installation and configuration issues including more general
purpose
web server configuration issues such as Apache's httpd.conf

php-db
        Focusing on database connectivity

php-migration
For people migrating from PHP 3 to PHP 4

php-windows
Windows users' mailing list discussing Windows specific topics,
including
ISAPI

php-cvs
All CVS commit messages (does not yet exists, will be created soon)

php-doc
PHP Documentation group discussions (already existed, will be
renamed from
phpdoc@ soon for consistency)

php-dev
PHP Development group discussions (already existed)

php-announce
PHP related announcements (moderated, already existed)

php-general
General PHP forum for topics not covered by the previous forums

All of the mailing lists will be served by the lists.php.net server (e.g.
php-install <email protected>). As I mentioned, the old mailing lists will be
phased out quickly and be discontinued within a couple of weeks. There'll
be NO auto-subscription to any of the new mailing lists! Make sure you
subscribe to all of the relevant mailing lists as soon as you can.
