i just tried "mail.ifrance.com" and it worked
for me, it is definetly what you have to put
in your ini file instead of "localhost" if you
do not run a mailserver for yourself on your
machine

regarding your second problem: you should
never put multiple problems in one bugreport!
see "register_globals" in your ini file and
the manual to see what happens
