Of course, PHP is the best server page technology available today.
Period.
But what happens when the easy stuff is done, and we hit the
browser-interface wall? Some of PHP competitors are also free-standing
languages that can be used to write client-side user interfaces. Some
are also working on giving Apache the ability to accept new modules in
their native tongue, instead of C.
Besides the Flash and PDF modules, are there any initatives or to give
the PHP platform more control client-side, or control over the server
itself?
Might the Mozilla/Grecko project give us a place to plug in a
client-side interface written in a PHP syntax?
Might PHP ever be a standalone language?
Might Apache modules be written in PHP?
Again, this isn't about where we are, but where we are going.
