Why not having pear.php.net for that? I don't understand why
the PEAR repository is sitting in the php4 repository. I would
like to see (and to have) a http://pear.php.net/ as a _central_
resource for

* PHP C/C++ extensions

* PHP code that has the guidelines who are defined on pear.php.net
  (class definitions etc.)

* announcing PHP applications, like freshmeat.net.

I think these points are necessary. Users don't want to search
on Weberdev, zend.com, php-resources.de, phpclasses.upperdesign.com
etc. for scripts/extensions/... I think we definitively need a
central resource, a freshphp.net ;) for all kinds of modules that
are mentioned above.
