FWIW, I am not an internationilazation expert, but every article I've read
on the subject says "flags are a bad idea... don't use them." I tend to
agree, besides look how much smaller the dropdown list is compared to the
combined image size. (Hell, the dropdown list code is probably smaller
than the <IMG> tags alone.) Just don't depend on Javascript to take me to
the new language.

I won't miss them at all.
I usually run with Javascript disabled and never see them. When I mess up
and hit the site with JS on, I find them annoying. JS bells and whistles
may be acceptable, but PLEASE make sure you can navigate the entire site
with JS turned off!
