It doesn't make sense. But it's very practical syntax-wise, right now
it is impossible to pass a value such as "true" or "array(1,2,3)" to a
function that wants a reference. But as Zeev says, maybe the right
solution in all cases then is to "de-reference :-)" the parameter.
