Thanks to all for the help. I'll checkout that Zend API - I need to
appreciate the distinction between PHP and Zend anyway. Rasmus, I
appreciate your response, but I did find the "If you can't figure out what
string-lens means, then you're too dumb to try this" 'warning' a little
harsh. Frankly, I assumed that string-lens has a well-known meaning
elsewhere, perhaps in the ./configure program, and that the implication was
"If you're not familiar with (name of the program in which string-lens is
well-known), you're in trouble, since you really need to be familiar with
(that program) to have any success." So I didn't bother trying to decipher
it. And in any case, I was a little surprised at the negativity of the
'challenge' and subsequent email, especially regarding a document that
after all is supposed to explain things.
