[PHP-DEV] 4.0.4 Release (Summary of thoughts) From: James Moore (jmoore <email protected>)

There seems to be a few things being talk about before the 4.0.4 release. I
saw sascha commited some changes earlier but I think ALL changes should be
made and perhaps depreciate some of the older functions that have been
changed, check all the function names in the manual, update them to the
official standard then think about 4.0.4, there is very little change in the
sources to be done some renaming and alias' to be added, PS I think rather
than aliasing the official names depreciated names should be aliased to the
offical name and a comment as to when they were depreciated should be added
(IE Version number) for future reference. 4.0.4 IMHO Should not be released
until this is done then we can chuck a new msg on the front of PHP.net make
sure its in the newfiles and try to get as many people to know about it as
possible. But I dont think the depreciated names should be listed on the
manual page. If people really want this to be the case then add another
appendix of depreciated functions with a note to when they were depreciated.
