as i had configured it to ignore changes in whitespace ...

maybe the CVS mail script should be set up to limit diff output to some
100 lines or so?

i am going to change the entry format for functions and the inner
working of the version-info function to allow localization of version
messages, and that patch will be at least as big as this one ... ;)
