Just go ahead. I just tried to work with the function and
saw that there was no documentation at all, so I generated
a base documentation from the source as a framework for
further work. If there already is documentation, and it
does "compile", commit it so that the load of improving
and translating it is distributed among multiple people.

I do not care if it is dutch. While I do not speak dutch,
it is sufficiently similar to german and english that I
can make my way through it with the help of the source.
