uh? then you must have a problem somewhere else in the XML?

i've been using <void/> all over the place without problems
for some time now and as you never mentioned any problems
with it it should have been working for you just as long

and "character data is not allowed here"
is usually *not* triggerd by a tag not known
or in a place where the DTD does not allow it
