I've done this and it can work quite nicely, assuming you've got enough
horsepower. The really cool thing about VMWare is the ability to put a disk
file into "undoable" mode. When you power down the VM, you have the option
of committing, discarding or storing separately all of the changes made to
the disk. This allows you to install software with impunity since you can
always return the machine to the same state you started with.

The problem: I have a copy of VMWare but no time at the moment. If nobody
else does it first, I'll see if I can't setup some Windows NT & Linux
configurations in the next few months.
