[PHP-INST] need help with configure - NOVICE From: bigbrthr3 (bigbrthr3 <email protected>)

Hi everyone,
I am new to using LINUX and need to install PHP. I "inherited" a system
with Redhat 6.2 and Apache. I've never installed any software packages
until now and after following the PHP manual's instructions I attempted to
run configure:

./configure -with-pgsql=/opt/pgsql-7.02 -with-apache=/opt/apache

which gives the following error
checking lex output file root... ./configure: lex: command not found
configure: error: cannot find output from lex; giving up

I need some help to be pointed in the right direction.
