[PHP3] Avoiding DoS with mail From: Mario de Mello Bittencourt Neto (mneto <email protected>)

I am developing one application where the user can register one
date/message and the system will send him the message when the correct
time comes.
I have a php3 script that will be run from cron but I would like to
avoid flooding my mail server with tons of messages per second.

Is there any way to avoid this kind of Denial of Service ?
