[PHP3] Problems with german "umlauts" From: schlicht <email protected>

Hi,
I'm using ORACLE7 / AIX 4.3 / APACHE 1.3.6 / PHP 3.0.8.
My problem: When my sql-statements produce return-values with german umlauts, I
always get "u" instead of "ü", "a" instead of "ä" and so on.
I processed the same statements in SQLPLUS and it worked fine.
I set the required enviroment-variables and restarted APACHE:

ORA_NLS=/usr/local/oracle7.3/oracle/ocommon/nls/admin/data
NLS_LANG=american_america.WE8ISO8859P1
LANG=en_US
NLSPATH=/usr/lib/nls/msg/$L/$N:/usr/lib/nls/msg/$L/$N.cat

Phpinfo() displays only NLSPATH. Maybe thats a hint.
I really don't know what to do. Maybe someone can help me? Thanks in advance.
