[PHPLIB-DEV] Changes to the CVS From: Kristian Köhntopp (kk <email protected>)
Date: 04/13/00

Ulf, Jan and I  <email protected> have completely broken the CVS at the
moment. Cry.

What we did:

We wanted to split the php/ directory in a number of subdirectories.
This is partly completed. The ct* and be* files will somehow go into
the php/db/ subtree in the near future.

We wanted to kill off the old OOH forms and replace them with Ulfs
new code. This has been done, the old code is kept in unsup as part
of the distribution.

HTML widgets went into the html/ directory, non-widgets went into
ext/. The auth/ directory is currently quite empty, but this will
change as we add auth/ldap/auth.inc to auth/sql/auth.inc. If you
have other (generic) authentication methods, add them.

There will be Session3.inc and Session4.inc, the latter will use
PHP4 functions for sessions.

There will be Template3.inc and Template4.inc. The latter will use
PHP4 compatible code for Templates, whatever this means.

There will be perm.inc and permx.inc. The latter will use table based
groups and permissions.

The table proxy is a new addendum contributed by Jan as part of some
larger LDAP projects he has done. It can link PHP variables to persistent
storage in databases or LDAP servers.

The documentation will be revised and split into three books, an
installation guide, a reference and a tutorial.

The pages/ directory will see a complete overhaul, and will contain
much better organized examples. We will perhaps write an installer.

The new version will be called PHPLIB-8. It will not be released quickly.
It will not be very compatible with current PHPLIB (it will be compatible
where possible without sacrificing functionality or elegance. Compat is
only a secondary concern. Others will contribute code for migration and
compat, no doubt.).
