I have received a number of questions regarding the
change of the list manager. The following question is
exemplary for all of you.
Please read the information in this message carefully
and keep a saved copy for reference, as it explains
how to deal with the new software.

The new list manager software are the qmail mailer and
the ezmlm list manager. This software has been chosen,
because it can automatically unsubscribe bouncing addresses
from a list and because it can maintain the address
list of a list in a MySQL database.
What will change for you?
1. The commands to subscribe and unsubscribe are
now plain mail (content does not matter) to
either
For the PHPLIB list:
phplib-subscribe <email protected>
phplib-unsubscribe <email protected>
For the PHPLIB developers list:
phplib-dev-subscribe <email protected>
phplib-dev-unsubscribe <email protected>
For the PHPslash list:
phpslash-subscribe <email protected>
phpslash-unsubscribe <email protected>
The old list manager commands still work. That is, you may still
send mail to phplib-request, phplib-dev-request, phpslash-request
and put "subscribe" or "unsubscribe" in the subject lines.
The address majordomo <email protected> is now dead.
2. The new lists are protected. That is, if you are posting from
an address that is different from the address you are receiving
mail, you need to register that address manually. Send mail to me
and I'll put you on the allow list.
If you have questions if you are subscribed or if you can post,
send mail to
phplib-query <email protected>
phplib-dev-query <email protected>
phpslash-query <email protected>
3. All lists are now available as a digest. That digest is
being produced at least twice a day at 0600 and 1800 local
time (GMT+0100 in winter, GMT+0200 in summer). If you want to
receive this list as a digest,
- unsubscribe from the regular list
- subscribe to the digest list
by sending mail to
phplib-digest-subscribe <email protected>
phplib-dev-digest-subscribe <email protected>
phpslash-digest-subscribe <email protected>
You probably guess how you can unsubscribe from the digest
by now.
4. If you need help with the list manager, send mail to
the -help address of the list. That is, send mail to
phplib-help <email protected>
phplib-dev-help <email protected>
phpslash-help <email protected>
5. If you still experience problems, send mail to me. I will look
into them.
