phpSlash isn't all that hard to set up. It takes less than an hour from
start to finish if you've already got phplib, php, apache and MySQL setup
already.
It currently supports no user variables or suthetication a'la slashdot,
though that is being worked on. The admin stuff if fairly good though a
little fussy IMHO.. It's possible to work in user based authenticated
subsections of phpSlash (and it would be cool!) though it would require a
fair amount of work.
I'm not sure phpSlash kind of things really equal phorum kind of things..
The interfaces seems diffrent enough to invoke a diffrent type of mind
set.. phourm and it's bretheren harkening back to places like echo and the
well (as a former echo-ite I muct say the text only, telnet-in-and-post
interface really does create a sense of community much quicker than
anything I've ever seen in GUI based attempts).
As far as doc's go for phpslash they are being worked on but are at a
stand-still until the 0.6 version is released which will sport a
completely FastTemplate based approach to things. This will also change
alot of the doc's :) If you care to, you can browse the phpSlash mailing
list archives at http://lists.netuse.de and look for the phpSlash-FAQ-0.2
it should contain pretty much everything you need to know to get yourself
into trouble :) I posted a copy over the weekend so it should be in this
month's archive.
