First of all, sorry if I made a really stupid question: have you
restarted Apache after changing php3.ini? This is a necessary step to be
sure that every existing copy of the server re-reads the configuration
files.
But maybe a more sensitive options could be that ther's something badly
written in php3.ini. I have the notion (but I could be wrong, take it for
what is worth) that if there is an error in parsing php3.ini the module
silently relies on defaults from that point onward.
