Is there a way to use PHP tp authenticate a user of a website when the
first enter a restriced area and then hand the authentication off, so to
speak, to the web server??
If I use a a regualr html log in page, and use PHP to search a database for
a matching username/password pair, and then translate that to a
username/password found in the password file of an apache webserver, can I
then allow the web browser to authenticate with the website??
