Do I seriously have to explain that ...
Do you do any research before you select a development environment?
A year ago I was totally green on internet development (coming from IT) and
I spent a few months on research on environment, tools, libraries, Linux vs.
MS, etc.
You have to do some research yourself - looking at your situation. Wrong
decisions can have a big impact.
Never believe people on lists. Technicians often behave like blind and very
religious people, thinking in black and white (sorry guys).
And research for internet development is easy - there is tons of info on the
net itself.
My conclusion was:
- Linux, Apache, PHP, MySQL, PHPLIB, Homesite (and Dreamweaver) was what I
needed.
- webdevelopment is still quite primative, many tools are still missing or
not very "developer/user friendly".
- Browsers are THE pain in the ... incompatible, bugs and more problems (for
about every languare release or minor version !)
But again do NOT believe me, do the research! In your situtation you might
need different things.
Greetings
Jeroen.
