No cache can't sustitude an AppServer. E.g. the new forms, I've driven a
simple performance test on our development maschine (Ultra 1) of it. A a
plain form with about 60 elements. 3 sec runtime - 0.3 sec Include time,
1.4 sec required to initialize the object tree. APC saves me 0.3 sec
(10%). An AppServer would save more than 1.4 sec (55% = 5.5 * 10%).
Suddenly I'd be allowed to redesign my applications. I would be allowed
to write my WebOS and build an event driven application, real cool
stuff.
