Really? So they have no plans of implementing database specific features and
allowing users access to them?

For my apps, I need to be able to move from MySQL to Oracle without a
problem, but for a lot of people MySQL does the job just fine. Seems dumb
not to provide hooks for "db specific" features.

Maybe we should start up an "open" repository, (though I suppose phpclasses
is just that)

anyway, lame about the no-auto-number-support in PEAR/DB
