Indeed it is. Even though it is starting to show it's age, I still believe
there is a need for a library like PHPLIB that offers sessions,
authentication and permissions in a fast and extensible package.

I have submitted my bug fixes and enhancements to template.inc.
These have not been committed to the CVS repository despite the monthly
questions on this list regarding these bugs.

It will take more than a move to Sourceforge to allow the PHPLIB community
to contribute. It will require a change of attitude from the current
maintainers to allow people to contribute bug fixes and enhancements.
Speaking from experience, I know it takes a lot of work to merge changes
from many different developers. Especially if those developers are all
trying to take PHP in different directions.
As an example, the message from Arno in this thread describes his vision
for PHPLIB. Personally I think this vision takes PHPLIB in a different
direction than it has been going. This adds much more case-specific code to
the library, perhaps reducing the speed and simplicity of PHPLIB that we
all know and love.
I'm not saying Arno's enhancements shouldn't be part of PHPLIB (I can see
that the extra functionality would be very useful), I'm just saying that
there needs to be discussion and agreement over the long term goals of the
library.
I do think the current host of PHPLIB tends to stifle development amongst
the long-term users of the library. We know Kristian "owns" the library and
while it's still hosted on his servers I for one feel his lack of
enthusiasm for the library reduces the incentive to make enhancements.
I vote for a move to SourceForge, and am willing to help with maintaining
and enhancing the library with the little spare time I have for such
projects.
