We have had this discussion before. The "owners" of PEAR could not/would
not build PEAR around PHPLib, nor would they consider any integration
discussions. End of story.
If PEAR is the future and only the software in PEAR is going to have
visibility, then no matter what you do, PHPLib is dead.
But, IF??? (and I doubt it) there is any hope for a long term view for
PHPLib it will be in growth, not maintenance. We, as a group, need to
create features that make it worth while, indispensable.
I don't have a vision for PHPLib, but I think there needs to be one. This
is what made it great to begin with. Somebody DRIVING the project forward.
New ideas and new feature will bring new people.
I will continue to help. But I too, feel frustrated by the lack of someone
with control. Almost two years ago, I submitted some changes to the table
class to make it work better with Oracle. Those changes never got reviewed
or implemented. I have shared them with others as a subclass of table.
So, do we have a review board (or person) willing to integrate these types
of changes throughout the project?
