Wow, this topic has sparked a fury of emails. Hopefully it will also work to
jumpstart the code. Thanks for getting this going Nathan!

Back-End .4.x (whish is also using phplib - if only barely) also has two sites:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/back-end/
http://back-end.org/
For the most part there is no problem with this. However, Back-end.org is
mostly an archive at this point and isn't really up to date. I wouldn't expect
this to be a problem with phplib.
Folks come to this project from both sources. All of the active code is kept on
SourceForge.

I did a quick search on SF for phplib. It's worth the effort:
http://sourceforge.net/search/
A number of projects list phplib within their description as a key component of
the project. Others have tried to emulate phplib or simplify it. There are
also likely a lot of applications that use pieces of phplib and don't mention
this within their description on Sourceforge. This likely isn't news to folks,
but sometimes it is good to be reminded of it.
There is also already a phplib into pear project on SourceForge:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pear-phplib/
Not sure what the status of that is, but no need to re-create the wheel.
Also, I didn't mention this, but certainly if I make any improvements to phplib I'll send in a note with the code to the list for consideration.
Back-End is only using it for its templates at this point. I'm working on
another project which will be using phplib much more extensively. However, I
still quite new to phplib and still am a long way from being able to contribute
to the code (as anyone who remembers any of my previous posts to this list will
likely agree :).
