RE: [phplib] Windows + PHPlib From: Brian Popp (bpopp <email protected>)

Don't let the Windows naysayers scare you too much. It can work. I've been
running a medium-sized application on Windows NT 4, an Access database
(ODBC), and PHP/PHPLib for over two years. There about 50 regular users and
one of the tables has about 30,000 records. Performance is very acceptable
as long as you index your tables correctly. I do run into locking problems
occasionally, but as long as your transactions aren't too complicated and
you don't have 100's of concurrent users, it shouldn't be too common.

Having said that, I'm running MySQL, Linux, and PHP on another server and
have had MUCH better results. Zero downtime and performance is much more
impressive (even on a much slower server). If the project is large or you
expect that it ever will be, I would recommend you save yourself some
headaches (now and especially later) and strongly push for Linux and a
stronger database.

Subject: [phplib] Windows + PHPlib

Hello Kind folks,

Can anyone share any pitfall or caveats to be observed when using PHPlib
in Windows.

I am a Linux user and generally feel lost in Winduhs

I will be using WinME + Apache 1.3.2 + MS Access + PHP4.0.6

TIA

Tarique
