Hi,

You can also use OpenLink's Multi-Tier ODBC driver if you like.

There is a HOWTO for compiling ODBC into PHP at http://www.iodbc.org

It works pretty well with SQLServer 7, or rather we've fixed a bug with it
and will be releasing the 4.0 version of our drivers with the patch. Let me
know if you need advanced copies.

I tried to make a connection between linux/php and MSSQL but am about
where you are, it seems. The best info I've had on the topic is in the
user notes appended to the mssql_connect documentation on php.net.
