RE: [PHP-DB] Oracle ... FreeBSd .. From: Andrew Hill (ahill <email protected>)

Hi Justin,

ODBC will allow you to bypass the Oracle SQL*Net installation - you don't
need to have any Oracle files installed on the BSD box.

OpenLink's Multi-Tier drivers will work this way for you. There is an
ODBC-PHP HOWTO at www.iodbc.org and the drivers are available at
www.openlinksw.com

Please let me know if you need assistance.

Best regards,
Andrew

Subject: [PHP-DB] Oracle ... FreeBSd ..

Thanks in advance for any help ...

I'm running PHP 4.0.4 on FreeBSD 4.1, and I need to connect to an oracle
database elsewhere in my organization is it possible to install oracle
support without the oracle server installed? Or without some SQL*Net
application installed?

In other words I want to be able to get to the Oracle database that's on
an oracle server, but through PHP/Apache on my FreeBSD box.

(Note I know I can get Oracle for Linux to work on FreeBSD, but I don't
want to do this)

Thanks,

Justin
