I would like to give the "knowing" guys the ability to do searches
with all the neat flexibility only the regex offers...
BUT...
i would like to make sure that there is no way to crash or slow down
my MySQL-Server.
I would like to have opinions of what would be the best way?
restricting mysql-deamon memory allocation?
restricting process time?
or find a way in php to ... lets say.. exclude the heavy-duty
searches.
I am not profient enough to even guess what somebody could do in the
worst case when typing in a regex through a web-form and let my
mysql-server do as he wants....
So what would be the worst case?
And what can i do to not let that happen to my MySQL server.
Take care,
